Great Garden Bones...

Hi Vintage Lovers,

We have started creating  some 'garden bones' for our old lady over last weekend.
Something I have been planning for a while and have been very eager to start.
It certainly will not be a short process, I will be busy for a while.

Yes, I know it sounds hilarious, but very important in gardening terms.

You need to develop strong garden bones when creating new gardens. Which basically means the main structure of the garden. Creating an outlining foundation with paths and gates, or structures and trees, for the rest of the garden to develop around.

So, first off we planted Pittosporum Tenuifolium Screenmaster along the length of the shed so eventually it will form a hedge and hide the ugly modern structure. I am planning every month from now on until spring, to buy hedging plants to create a border of hedges around the edge of the garden to start with.

Next we erected two of my old garden gates. I have had these gates for a while now. One was a Mother's Day present and the other a birthday present a few years back. I couldn't part with them when we sold our old place so they came with us.

As you can see we have erected one in front of the store house and one at the back between the shed and the store house.

We need to re-do the path paving at some stage but the gates look fantastic, like they were meant to be there all along.

The latch is made from old horseshoes and an old piece of chain.
Perfect.

We are really happy with the start of our old lady's "garden bones'.

We just need the hedging plants to grow now.
Grow, Grow and Grow.
They are very quick growing plants so it shouldn't take too long.

Mel xx
